The engine was moved to the central part of the hull, and the main armament, a powerful 150 mm sIG 33 howitzer, was placed in the rear, armored superstructure. Thanks to these changes, the Grille Ausf. M gained better stability, the ability to fire at a greater angle and more effectively supported German infantry on the front. A total of approximately 280 combat units of this machine were produced, which served both in the East and West, within armored and armored grenadier divisions.
