1. About this policy
This policy describes how Brick.Fan (we, us, or our), a website operated from California, United States, handles personal information in connection with brick.fan and its catalog features. It covers information you provide, information processed when you use the site, and affiliate referrals. External stores and services have their own privacy policies.
2. Information we process
- Account and saved information. If you sign in, we receive your account identifier, name, email address, and email-verification status from the Brick.Fan account service. Features you use may associate collections, wishlists, saved parts, and preferences with your account.
- Requests and subscriptions. When you contact us or request an alert or reminder, we process the information you submit, such as your email, message, selected product, and subscription preferences.
- Photos you submit. The minifigure identification tool sends uploaded photos to the configured recognition services, which may include Brickognize or OpenAI, to identify possible matches. Only upload photos you are comfortable sharing for this purpose; avoid including people, documents, or other personal information.
- Technical and usage information. Hosting and security services process information such as IP address, browser details, requested URLs, and request times to deliver and protect the site. We also record feature events and errors. Affiliate click reporting includes the product, retailer, link placement, country, and daily click counts.
3. How information is used and shared
We use information to operate the site, authenticate accounts, save your selections, provide requested tools and notifications, respond to messages, understand feature use and affiliate referrals, troubleshoot problems, and prevent abuse.
Service providers supporting hosting, storage, authentication, email delivery, and photo recognition process information needed for those functions. Our infrastructure uses Cloudflare. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect the service, users, or legal rights.
Where applicable data protection law requires a legal basis, processing depends on the purpose: providing the service you request, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the site, compliance with legal obligations, or consent where required. You may withdraw consent for processing based on consent.
4. Cookies and browser storage
We use cookies to support sign-in and keep your session secure. Temporary sign-in cookies expire after approximately 10 minutes; refresh cookies can last up to 30 days. Browser storage remembers settings such as your theme, catalog view, and locally saved parts.
Use Cookie settings in the footer to accept or reject optional analytics, or change your choice later. Optional feature analytics and affiliate click reporting remain disabled until you accept. We honor Global Privacy Control by disabling this optional analytics. We do not separately respond to browser Do Not Track signals; optional analytics is controlled through these cookie settings. The brickfan_consent cookie remembers your selection, consent dates, and policy revision for 180 days. Essential sign-in and requested features remain available when you reject optional analytics. Changing this choice does not change consent on external retailers’ websites.
You can block or delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Doing so may sign you out or remove locally saved settings and items. Clearing browser storage does not delete information already saved to your account.
Affiliate networks and retailers may use cookies or similar technologies when you follow their links. These third parties may collect information about your activity over time and across different websites. Their notices explain the choices available on their services. This policy itself does not constitute consent to optional tracking.
5. Affiliate links and partner policies
Some shopping links are affiliate links. We may receive a commission when you follow one and make a qualifying purchase. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Following a shopping link can send you through an affiliate network before reaching the store. The network or retailer may receive referral and campaign identifiers, the destination product, your IP address, browser information, and information about a resulting transaction. These help attribute referrals, calculate commissions, and detect fraud. The retailer handles checkout, payment, shipping, and its customer relationship with you.
Rakuten Advertising
An affiliate network that can attribute visits and purchases made through participating retailer links. Its published Privacy Policy covers its own corporate services; for affiliate-service processing, it directs visitors to the relevant advertiser or publisher’s policy, including this policy.
eBay / eBay Partner Network
Marketplace links may include eBay Partner Network tracking identifiers to attribute referrals and qualifying purchases.
Amazon / Amazon Associates
Amazon links may include an Associates tracking tag. Amazon handles activity on its store under its own privacy notice.
LEGO
Links to the LEGO store may pass through an affiliate network. The network’s practices and LEGO’s own privacy policy may both apply to your visit and purchase.
These partners maintain their own notices and privacy controls, which can vary by country and change over time. Review the policy for the store and region you visit. Other retailers linked from Brick.Fan also have their own policies.
6. Retention, security, and international processing
Retention depends on the information and its purpose, including providing account features, handling requests, maintaining security, and meeting legal obligations. Information held by external retailers or recognition providers is subject to their retention practices. Local browser data remains until you or your browser remove it.
We use measures such as secure connections and protected session cookies to help safeguard information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Service providers may process information in countries other than your own, where privacy laws may differ.
7. Your choices and rights
You can browse the public catalog without signing in, manage saved items through the relevant features, and unsubscribe from alerts using the link in the message. You can also visit a retailer directly instead of using an affiliate link.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information; restrict or object to certain processing; withdraw consent; or opt out of processing that qualifies as a sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. You may also have the right to complain to your local privacy regulator. Rights and exceptions depend on the circumstances.
Requests concerning information held by a retailer or affiliate network should also be directed to that organization using the resources above.
8. Children’s privacy
Brick.Fan’s account and shopping features are intended for a general audience of collectors. Children should involve a parent or guardian before providing personal information or using external shopping services. If you believe a child has provided personal information that should be removed, please raise a privacy request.
9. Contact and updates
For privacy questions or requests to exercise your rights, contact Brick.Fan at privacy@brick.fan. Include enough information to identify your account or request, but do not send passwords or payment details. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
We may update this policy as the site or its information practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision. We will announce material changes through a prominent notice on this page and provide additional notice where required by law.
